Hello BAsketabll Parents,

First of all let me apologize for the lack of info about the program up until now. I couldn't release any open gym dates, season game dates, coaches lists, or length of season becuase this is a new start for LHYA as well as the other districts involved.. As you all know Basketball is a new sport to the L.H.Y.A. and traveling rec basketball is new to this whole district. So there was alot of planning and working with other districts to get this off the ground (Traveling basketball is new to them as well). So we had to work from the ground up, with rules meetings after rules meetings. We have hashed out all of the details as far as the rules go, but we are still in the process of tackling scheduling (that is set for the 11th). Teams will be selected by then and coaches will be contacting you with details such as practice times and season schedule.

I know you guys have a boat load of questions, so let me try and answer the bulk of them now.

The first Open gym will be held at L.H. Central on Friday the 6th (this Friday) from 7:00pm to 9:00pm for the senior divisions (5th and 6th grade boys and girls.) Please have your athlete there so they can get a chance to meet the coaches and the coaches can meet them. Open gym for the junior divisions 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls will be anounced tomorrow.

The districts involved are Licking Heights, Watkins, Granville, Johnstown, Northridge, and Centerburg.

Home games will be played on Wednesdays and away games will be played on the weekends.

5th and 6th grade girls will be playing all districts involved except for Watkins (Watkins doesn't have any girls teams this year).
5th and 6th grade boys will be playing all districts involved except for Centerburg (Centerburg doesn't have any boys teams this year)

3rd and 4th grade boys will be playing Watkins and Granville as well as each other.    <----------
3rd and 4th grade girls will be playing Granville and Johnstown as well as each other.  <----------  I will know more about this arrangment after the scheduling meeting on the 11th, so this may change.

I hope this answers some of your questions if you have any other questions please email me back and I will do my best to answer them.
